the rains maugham aynaku illustration adobe

Wet Monsoon blows in the Indian Ocean from South West, from April to October. Further East, in the Philippines, the western wind is called Habagat and the rainy season comes with it. The rains turns out to be a bit oppressive, as Somerset Maugham perfectly wrote in his famous narrative “Rain”. The dullness, occasionally broken up by typhoons, can go on for weeks. And rain and showers drive people’s mood to absolute lethargy…
On these occasions there is little to do but stay in the bungalow and lay on the bamboo floor, trying to stand the flood against the roof and the radio blasting old sweetie cheap American love-songs telling on someone else’s dreams!
So, to remain at large, really the best once can do is to write a pair of letters, just to mark the anniversary of someone he used to be, and it always takes a lot of patience to make these memories go away…

I really enjoy the way the picture is “lit”. It glows in the most wonderful way! Really incredible style and wonderful textures to everything!

I wonder how many letters get written in these periods of time? And how many letters actually get send?
The texture of your illustration is indeed great. The whole piece looks a bit melancholic, a good, reflective mood.

Great picture, rain & dullness…well I might be a great rain lover when not able to combine those two ;-)

Another beautiful illustration. Your work is consistantly strong. I always enjoy it. I hope to bring back a Trowbridge page one of these days soon.

Lovely Massimo! Great lighting. Bright but moody and the most fantastic palm trees ever! Also a wonderful story as always!

Always an educational visit here! All that rain sounds like a real drag. The east coast of the states are getting a lot right now, but nothing like that. On the art itself ~ it really gives that sort of claustrophobic feeling of having no choice but to stay inside. And your trademark blends are such eye candy!
