spring dawn kerala aynaku illustration adobe

Spring has broken here since a few days. Spring means to me early and unrequired raisings. There’s nothing to do: as soon as the bright light of dawn filters from the outer world into my room, I wake up and contemplate the morning breaking. The clear and reddish sky, the birds tattling, the ungracious screaming of a rare crow and the pretty warm temperature of the air, invariably makes me thinking about Kerala, southern India… I know it may seem a totally hazardous comparison, probably due to the simple fact that I used to wake up at dawn there too…The very good reason of doing it, was to go for a stroll along the palm-fringed beaches and deeply enjoy the perfect sound of Mother Nature at hers very best: a sort of odd springtime! In Varkala the effect was grand: the beach is set against a high backdrop of red cliffs with mineral-water springs. The sound of the waves dominates, the fresh breeze blows from the ocean, the reddish light pours from a lysergic and transparent sky, one colour magically melts into an another… There are very special shades of red, violet and pink over there, shades which make Kerala’s sceneries unique and unforgettable… I wonder if spring is just a pure state of mind.

Oh dear in your words you’ve mentioned the ungracious screaming of a crow - maybe that’s the bird I sing most like - oh dear….

I want to wave back to you person in the waves. Hello!

State of mind! It sure must be! I think it was Camus who said it was in the midst of winter that he found an invincible summer in himself … same concept. Beatiful illo and wording. And interesting link!

Again a fantastic post and an amazing illustration. I am in awe of your lighting in your illustrations. The solid colors are wonderful. And besides everything else there is to love - I love the goggles or glasses.
