In his essay “art in landscape” Stephen Bann writes about Wordsworth’s prowess as a walker. Bann calculates that the great Romantic poet “must have traversed a distance of 175,000 to 180,000 English miles”.
I doubt whether the tropical-post-freak-beachcombing-wasting time generation I fortunately belong to, can be qualified as Romantic. Most of all I doubt whether this generation gained the same reputation for inveterate walking! Personally, as an incorrigible Italian romantic, I was characteristically associated with walking barefoot; an habit which used to be quite fashionable among fellow travellers despite the fact that there is a very good chance of coming across leeches and other adorable creature, if you do some walking along grass lawns and the like. Even walking barefoot along the beach turned out to be not always safe for me when - romantically distracted by the beatiful setting or contemplating the sequel of my footmarks on the sand - I painfully stumbled upon the small and sharp coral stones scattered around…Anyway, talking about footprints, don’t miss World’s most famous and ascend to Adam’s Peak. It is a difficult and long climb: there is some kind of metal stair of 4000 steps leading to the place of Adam’s foot, but not all the steps are secure. The holy foot (mark) is in a stone…

Beautiful!
Walking barefoot on a beach - now that’s something I never get tired of.
That’s cool.
love
I really really like the art, and also loved your post.
Makes we want to go for another walk…
Awh, this is a beautiful illo, I would like to walk there, barefooted. The warm summer breeze and the sound of the ocean. Great!
Maybe this generation will be known much more for its bloggging than its walking. :-) Enjoyed your art site!
It’s funny, I always picture you on a sandy beach in some exotic locale, painting like Gaugain and writing to tell us of your adventures! This is so wonderful, I love what you do!!!
this is the latest favorite of mine in your collection. so lovely! boy, i feel like i have been there with you in your journey just by reading your posts
Always, when I read your blog and look at your illustration, my mind wanders off in associations, quite appropriate considering the theme is feet - or walking :).
hi! the socks are not on sale this time maybe in the near future.
Love this - it reminds me of Charmouth where one can find fossilized ammonites as they are eroded from the cliffs. But this looks sandier and a much nice place to walk barefoot.
This is very COOL. I want to RUN through this sand now!
Great site you have… lots going on!
